Dale’s Williams to Elon

by Stephen M. Lewis
DigitalSports Richmond
slewis@digitalsports.com

Thomas Dale athlete David Williams is headed to Elon University in North Carolina.

The talented quarterback and defensive back is having a standout season, leading the Knights to a 3-1 Central District record, 3-4 overall, as they are still in district title contention.

He’ll more than likely play in the defensive backfield for the Phoenix, who are currently ranked No. 3 in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision with a 7-1 record. It is the highest ranking in school history.

“They offered me back in June,” Williams said, “and after taking my visits to the schools recruiting me the hardest, I decided to commit to Elon.”

Liberty, among others, had offered Williams scholarships.

Richmonders on Elon’s roster include Henrico’s Brandon Spurlock (DB) and senior kicker Andrew Wilcox, a Hermitage graduate who’s earned all-Southern Conference honors and is Elon’s all-time field goal leader.
