That longtime dream has come true again.

Bill Cullen, who used to watch Virginia Commonwealth baseball games as a young tyke, will join the Rams’ baseball program.

Thomas Dale’s rising senior committed earlier Thursday.

“It’s just close to home and I’ve been watching their baseball since I was a kid,” said Cullen, who picked VCU over Radford and the University of Richmond. “I knew it was a good fit for me.

Cullen, 5-8 and 160 pounds, will play center field and pitch a little for VCU.

He did a bunch for Dale as the Knights reached the Central Region semifinals, hitting .483 with four HRs while being TD’s ace pitcher.

He was also named all-DigitalSports this past season.

It didn’t hurt that Manchester stars and fellow all-DS picks Chris Ayers and Joey Cujas committed to VCU last week, joining former Lancer Blake Hauser, who will be a freshman for VCU in the 2009-10 season.

“I’ve always wanted to play for VCU, but I never really knew if it would happen. But it did.”

Let’s starts off with some signings!

Deep Run basketball star Amy Turner will continue her career at Davis & Elkins, a Division II school in West Virginia.

Coach Jason Asbell is definitely making an effort to scoop up Central Region stars for his team.

Speaking of region stars, Thomas Dale’s Alyssa Frye has been committed to College of Charleston for months now.

I tried to catch up with her for a video interview, but she’s been busy with offseason play. We’ll see her and Duke commit Ka’lia Johnson in the winter for sure, as the Knights try to reach the region final.

Congrats to her, and also to Henrico softball standout Kristina Caldwell.

She inked a full scholarship to St. Paul’s, a CIAA Division II school. She hit .441 this past season for the Warriors.

The next few weeks, please be patient.

We’re going through some changes, so some things may not work properly.

We’ll try to have things fixed and working better than ever as soon as possible. Thanks for your attention on that matter.

Also, I’m expecting my first child to arrive any time now, so I may be off of the site for a few days. You can understand that, right?

It’s football time!

Petersburg and Benedictine got started today! Again, I will be visiting EVERY football camp, that’s 37 schools, starting with these two sometime this week.

Look out for a camp schedule to see where I will be. I’m excited to trek to every school for the third straight season, providing in-depth coverage you won’t find anywhere else.

It will be even better this year, just wait and see.

Until next time, it’s your favorite reporter, signing off…
